23 Ways to Earn Money Offline When You Need Extra Cash

Most of the articles on this site are about how to earn money online. This time I wanted to write an article for those looking to earn money in general. This includes methods both online and offline. There are sometimes when we need to make some extra money but don’t really know a good way to do so. We may turn to the Internet but in a lot of cases, people just want to know how to earn some money fast.

There are ways to earn money pretty quickly online but some people just prefer something they can do in the real world which can put some money into their wallets.

I have compiled a list of 23 ways you can earn some money. Some are obvious while some you may have never thought of. In any case, they work.

1. Find a Job

Getting a job is the most common way to earn money. With the economy how it is today, it may not be so easy to find a job and that may be one of the reasons that lead you to this article. I just wanted to list this because it is a way to earn money.

2. Pawn or Sell Your Merchandise

If you need some extra cash and have something in your home that you can pawn, take it to one of your local pawn shops and see if they will take it. You don’t have to sell it if you don’t want to. Just pay a little interest and you can get it back. You would make more by selling it though.

3. Sell Your Jewelry

There are now shops popping up that specifically buy jewelry, more precisely gold jewelry. It can be broken or new as long as it is real gold. Take your gold jewelry to one of these local gold buying shops and see what you can get. You can also take your jewelry to a local pawn shop or other places in your area that buys it.

4. Collect Scrap Metal

If you happen to have any scrap metal in your garage or know some places in your town where you can legally access some, you can collect scap metal and sell it to the scrap metal yards. A friend of mines used to do this and made quite a bit of money every now and then collecting metal, copper, cans, and so on.

5.  Sell Stuff at the Flea Market

If you have a local flea market and have some stuff that you would like to sell or wouldn’t mind selling, you can set up a stand and show off your goods to potential buyers. Make a stop by your flea market and see what others are buying and use that information to bring your own special something in front of these buyers. You can also get things for free from places like craigslist or by looking in the classified section of your local newspaper and sell them for profit at the flea market or your own yard sale.

6.  Got a Truck?

If you have a truck, you can earn money from using it. Lots of people move but some of them don’t have a truck. You can offer to move their stuff in your truck for a small fee. I myself have paid someone to do this for me and you will be surprised how many people need this type of service. You don’t have to limit it to hauling furniture either. You can haul off anything like trash or junk as well. You just have to find a way to let people know that you can haul stuff for them. Word of mouth, friends, or having a website is a start.

7.  Do Odd Jobs For Others

There is always someone out there that needs some stuff done. Out of those people, there are many that will pay to get it done for them rather than them doing it themselves because they don’t want to, don’t have time to, don’t know how to, and so on. Think about what you are good at doing and what you wouldn’t mind doing for someone else. Some examples include cutting grass, gardening, house cleaning, carpentry, dog sitting, dog walking, painting, shoveling snow……

8. Become a Ticket Broker

If you are good at knowing which events are going to be hot and can get access to tickets for these events, you can sell them for profit. There are a couple of ways to do so like posting the info online at places like StubHub or Craigslist.

9.  Tutor Others

If you have a lot of knowledge in an area and think you can do well with teaching others what you know, you can offer to tutor people. The best candidates are grade school kids, college students, and even older people as there is a lot of new stuff that they might not know about which they may want to learn about.

10. Rent out Extra Space

If you have any extra space or rooms in your home that you are not using, you can rent it out to friends, family, or someone that is looking for a roommate. Craigslist is a good place to let others know you have space available. Just be careful if they are strangers.

11. Sell Your Stuff Online

If you don’t want to have a yard sale or go to a flea market, you can easily sell your stuff online through sites such as EBay and Craigslist. People buy all sorts of things and if you have what they are looking for at a reasonable price, they may take you up on your offer.

12. Teach a Language

If you can speak another language really good, you can teach others how to speak it. There are plenty of people who would like to learn another language and some are willing to pay for it. Many like to learn one on one rather than through some sort of software or boring classroom so this could be something you could do.

13. Teach People

Now I just mentioned how you could teach people to learn a new language but that is only one thing you could teach them. If you know how to do anything else really good and you could call yourself an expert or pro in this area, you could earn money teaching people what they want to know. Some examples of things people want to learn to do include playing an instrument, gardening, cooking, playing a sport, building stuff, using certain programs on the computer, and so on.

14. Bake Cakes

This one may sound random but if you have baking skills and are creative, you can make money selling cakes. I know a lady who came into the place I worked with a beautiful birthday cake. She said she made it and showed me a portfolia of the cakes she made. I decided I wanted her to make one for my sons birthday and told her what character he liked and paid her for making the cake. She makes money baking special birthday cakes for people. The point is, that you can earn some money as well if you have baking skills. You can sell wedding cakes, birthday cakes, cookies, cupcakes, or whatever you can bake up that is yummy.

15. Take Peoples Photos

If you are good with a camera and can take stunning photos, you can use that skill to earn you some money. There are many occasions where people need a skilled photograper. Weddings, graduations, anniversaries, and other special events. You can also take photos that you shot and upload them to certain sites and they will pay you each time your photos are used.

16. Fix Computers

If you know a lot about computers, you can use that knowledge and turn it into cash. Lots of people have computer problems. Maybe their compluter is slow or they need something fixed on it to get it working again.

17. Participate in Research Studies

Have you ever been listing to the radio and hear someone talking about how they are looking for a certain group of people with some sort of condition to take part in their clinical research study and how you can be compensated? Well you can indeed earn money by participating in clinical research studies. Medical schools or universities usually offer these but there are other places that offer them as well.

18. Donate Your Plasma

There are plasma banks that you can go to where they will pay you for giving plasma. There are sure to be at least one in your area.

19. Advertise on Your Car

Ever been riding by and saw a car with with advertisments all over it. I’ve seen quite a few and those people are actually getting paid for riding around with those advertisements on their car. There are legitimate “get paid to drive” companies that you can apply to which can earn you some extra money. Some are local and some you may have to find through online means.

20. Sell Your Art or Crafts

If you can paint or come up with some nice crafts, you may be able to sell them both offline and online. You can create paintings to hang in walls, homemade crafts and jewelry, and more. Its all about creativity and getting your work out there.

21. Sell or Recycle Your Old Cell Phones

I don’t know about you but I change cell phones every couple of years or so. So what could I do with my old phones that actually work? I can sell them or recycle them. You can sell them online or offline. There should be a place in your area which buys used cell phones (There is one in my area). You can also recycle your cell phones to sites that will pay you for your old phones.

22. Become a Mystery Shopper

You can get paid to shop at different places and evaluate the places you visit. You can make money while you shop. This is one those methods that has been out for quite some time.

23. House Sitting

Can you take care of someones house while they are away? You can get paid to live in a house rent free while at the same time make money. This type of work is hard to come by in reality but there are people out there that do need someone to house sit for them. You could try setting up an ad in your local newspaper or posting on craigslist to let people know you are available. There are also agencies you can register at that will help you find some house sitting jobs although they require a fee.
